Each Tuesday (hopefully, well maybe I should say most Tuesdays) I'll post tips I've learned or read about. These might have to do with anything from house cleaning to organizing to scrapbooking.
Today's tip is a kitchen cleaning tip. I read this in the February 2009 issue of Good Housekeeping magazine and decided to try it before posting it here. I'm happy to say it works - an easy (and green) way to zap microwave stains.
Pour a cup of water in a microwave safe bowl. Heat on the highest setting for 5 minutes. The steam from the heated water will make any stuck on messes wipe off easily. After the 5 minutes is up, remove the bowl (use a towel or hot pads so you don't burn yourself) and the glass turntable. Wipe out with a sponge or cloth. Just make sure the cloth is an older one you don't mind getting stained. I handwashed the turntable in the sink before returning to the microwave. Voila! An easy way to clean that takes almost no time.
