Most importantly, be comfortable. Be as colorful as you'd like, but try to avoid bold, graphic prints. They tend to distract. I would suggest something your child normally wears. Do you or your child have a favorite hobby, sport, toy, play an instrument? Feel free to use those during the session. They add such personality to your photos.
