The Blind Side

A friend (whose little girl I get to photograph tomorrow - so excited!) posted a link on facebook to this movie trailer. I didn't make it through the trailer without crying. Will have to take lots of tissues because I think it might be one of those movies that causes the ugly cry.

 

April 15 - POTD

DS is loving the soundtrack to the Hannah Montana Movie. He really likes the song God Blessed the Broken Road by Rascal Flatts. I love Butterfly that Miley Cyrus sings with her dad, but my little guy says it makes him sad. He's got a tender heart under all that stubbornness.  

THE Movie

Tonight DS and I went to see The Hannah Montana Movie .  Now I will go ahead and admit that I like the Disney show.  I had heard parts of the music from the movie on the Disney Channel and various talk shows Miley Cyrus has been on and I liked them.  And as country as it may be I've always liked Billy Ray Cyrus. So it's really no surprise I wanted to see the movie. Yes, my country roots do rear their heads on occasion.

The choice to whether or not to see the movie was a struggle for my sweet son. He's become very concerned with what others think of him lately and he really didn't want anyone in his class to know he likes Hannah Montana. Maybe there's a trend where you pretend to not like what's cool so others will think you are cool. Not sure, but for whatever reason he's not wanted anyone his age to know, but he wanted to go see the movie with me and my friends and their daughters. Thankfully one of my friend's sons decided to join us too.

This afternoon on the way home from school my somewhat overly sensitive child (yes, mother, I know I'm paying for my raising with this trait of his) tells me that he finally told all the guys in his class that he likes Hannah Montana. I simply replied with an "okay" while trying to manuever through our afternoon school traffic when he says, "Boy I'm glad I got that off my back" meaning his secret of liking Hannah Montana. It was all I could do to drive and not wreck I wanted to laugh so hard.  In the end he decided it took a lot of courage to tell them that he likes Hannah Montana.

Now onto the movie.

Imagine my delight when Rascal Flatts made an appearance in the movie.  Few people may know how much I like Rascal Flatts. So their cameo appearance was a great surprise. Oh and Billy Ray has a new song in it also. And Taylor Swift made a cameo as well.

Now back to the movie. I loved it and I loved the music. I will be heading out tomorrow to buy the soundtrack.  Definitely family friendly which is what you would expect from Hannah Montana. The music is inspiring which is always something I love.

So yes I recommend the movie. And you will probably see me making a fool of myself trying to learn the Hoe Down Throwdown. I mean come on....who doesn't like a good country line dance? :)

Oh and just to date myself, Miley Cyrus was born during my first semester in college.  Just a random bit of trivia. And did you know she appeared in Tim Burton's Big Fish film?  Good movie.

Days 3 & 4

So January 3 started out doing a bit of cleaning. The refrigerator to be exact. It desperately needed to be cleared out, scrubbed down and reorganized. Thankfully it's looks so much nicer now. This was the before. I didn't happen to get an after.

Today we went to church and then took DS to see Bedtime Stories. I'll be back tomorrow probably with a short review of it. I had stuck DS's new camera in my purse and had to sneak this photo of them walking ahead of me. I'm sure DS would have acted very dramatically if he's seen me do it and DH would have looked at me like I had lost my mind. He finds it odd that I take photos of random things. :) Am I the only one? Surely not. I know there are fellow scrapbookers out there that do this also. Right? :) But I love what I captured. DS is almost always hopping and skipping. Someone once told me a child who skips a lot is a happy child. Thanks for looking and I hope you all have a nice Monday to ease you back into the swing of things. My plans are to be back this week with my regular Friday photo tips and Saturday Sketch.  And I have a new series I will be starting called "Small Town Life". We have one more day and then school starts back. Please say it doesn't make me a bad parent that I am looking forward to it. :)

Amazing Grace

Have you seen this movie?  I have been wanting to see it for quite a while. I highly recommend it.  Such a great history lesson as well as incredibly inspiring to learn about William Wilberforce and all the reformations he worked for his entire life.

I've always loved the song Amazing Grace and somewhere in the recesses of my mind I knew the story of how it came to be, but had forgotten. The movie also brings that history into the movie. It's also worth watching the extras on the DVD and hear the commentary by the actors and director/producers.

And of course the extra of Chris Tomlin's video of his song Amazing Grace is well worth your time on the extras of the DVD. I found it on YouTube so I hope you will enjoy it.

Monday

I love reading blogs. Scrapbooking and photography blogs in particular. I have a huge list bookmarked in my blogs folder in my favorites. I'd been hearing about Google Reader and had been wanting to try it out for a few months, but just hadn't taken the time to sit down and add all the subscriptions. So last weekend I made the time. And I am so glad I did. Instead of clicking on each one in my favorites list I just go to the Google Reader from my G-mail page and I can see all that have been updated. I am really loving this.

I'll have some sneaks of some photos I took last week to share tomorrow hopefully.

In other news, it's spring break. Yay! Except I have a ton of things I need to be doing and I feel like being totally lazy. DS is spending a few days with grandparents so I should be taking advantage of the quiet. Instead I stayed up too late reading this book last night and then slept in this morning. And I have just lounged around in my pj's finishing up the book I was reading. I have that problem. Once I get into a book, I become obsessed with finishing it. I'm not one who can read just a chapter or two each night until I finish it. I'm impatient that way I guess. It was a good book. I bought this one last week at Target and can't wait to read it. I loved her Mitford books so I know this one will be good also.

Took DS to see Horton Hears a Who this weekend and we both really liked it. I mean how can you not like Dr. Seuss. Cute, cute movie with a good moral.

Well, I'm off to try to get moving. Need to get the house straightened and my to-do list made for the week.

A Movie

I'm sitting here watching this movie. It's on the Hallmark Channel which I rarely watch. But Gary Senise stars in it so that was enough for me. Planning on watching Stranger than Fiction tonight.

Don't you love it....

when your child comes to the conclusion that you are right about something? This morning on the way to church DS tells me that there is no school tomorrow. Of course I tell him that there is and he continues to argue that school is closed tomorrow. (For any of you who know my DS this arguing doesn't come as a surprise. - LOL!) He says he will bet me a cent that he's right. I tell him I'm not betting him anything. I tell him that his teacher would have put it in the newsletter she normally sends home on Friday, but he didn't bring one home. He says, "Oh yeah she said she would send it home on Monday."  And then it dawns on him that he would have to be there for her to give it to them to bring home. Ahhhh....mommy victory is sweet. :)

And in other random things, remember this movie? There's almost nothing on television early this evening and I came across it while flipping channels. Great movie, but sad. I don't think my mother would like because of the sadness factor.  Me though? Every once in a while I like one. Think I need to check out itunes for some of the songs from it also.

The weather forecasters are predicting cold weather again with the highs not getting above the upper 40s. I like cold weather until after New Year's and then I'm ready for spring and summer. The nice spring time weather we experienced last week was so nice.

Well, that's all for now. My scrap/sewing/laundry room is pretty much complete. I'll try to take photos of it soon. Preparing for a Stampin' Up workshop Tuesday night at the moment, though.

movie time

Watched this movie this afternoon. very inspiring. There is some language and some violence so I wouldn't recommend it for children, but still very inspiring.

Watched this one yesterday. Highly recommend it for everyone.

And watched this movie Friday night. No foul language. Spiritual theme, but there is a little violence so wouldn't recommend it for younger children.

I rarely ever watch movies. I might rent a few twice a year so this is a treat for me. I usually don't slow down long enough to watch a movie. I did finish up the Star Wars series with DS. I liked it. Still not a huge fan of sci-fi, but have to say it was good.
